One day, Hugh Schulkins was sitting at a red light when his pickup was rear-ended. After the accident, he had a series of back surgeries and rehabilitation at another hospital, but was still in considerable pain.
Schulkins, 61, was on high doses of pain medications, was depressed and couldn’t work. Sinai-Grace’s Functional Recovery Program, led by Maury Ellenberg, M.D., changed all that with a combination of rehabilitation, counseling and education programs designed for people with chronic pain.
Schulkins returned to work as a communications arts teacher. “I was able to take my life back thanks to this Sinai-Grace program.”
