Choices you make every day can make a big difference in helping prevent heart disease.
Eddie McDonald of Detroit learned the value of exercise – but only after he had a heart attack 15 years ago. “I thought I had the flu. I didn’t know it was my heart. They started running tests on me. That’s how they found out. They performed a quadruple bypass the next day.”
Now 87, McDonald has been working out at the DMC Sinai-Grace Rehabilitation Center three days a week since his heart attack. “I like the facility. The staff educates us, helps us change our lifestyle to be more healthy and safely takes us through our routines.”
McDonald has lost 30 pounds and feels great. “It’s a routine now. It keeps me motivated. I’m afraid to stop.”
