Echocardiograms are tests that produce an image of the heart using an ultrasound.
What is an echocardiogram?
A transesophageal echocardiogram (TEE) is a special type of echocardiogram that uses an ultrasound camera inserted through the mouth and into the esophagus. A TEE may be used to provide clearer images than can be provided by an echocardiogram done through the chest wall.
Preparing for an echocardiogram
Your cardiologist will determine if you need an echocardiogram.
Once you have been provided a referral from your physician, you may call the Echo Department at DMC Sinai-Grace to make an appointment that fits your schedule.
A team member will provide all information necessary to schedule the test, necessary preparation and facility location.
