Clinical Pastoral Education
DMC Sinai-Grace is proud to be accredited jointly with DMC Children’s Hospital of Michigan as a training center for The Association for Clinical Pastoral Education, Inc. (ACPE).

ACPE is a professional organization for education for ministry whose mission is to foster experienced-based theological education grounded in a person-centered approach to religious/spiritual ministry. ACPE training combines the practice of pastoral care with qualified supervision, peer group reflection and access to a variety of learning resources and interdisciplinary relationships.

Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) is designed to be interfaith, intense and include on-the-job experience. It is actual ministry to persons in routine and crisis events, integrated with seminary classes and post-seminary education for chaplains.

Because of the hospital’s involvement in CPE training, patients may be visited by a CPE resident or intern. All visits are supervised as part of the training program.
