3-year, $77M renovation of Sinai-Grace Hospital wraps up

Construction is complete of the third and final phase of the $77 million renovation of the Detroit Medical Center's Sinai-Grace Hospital in northwest Detroit, according to Detroit-based SmithGroupJJR Inc.

The final phase included construction of a new main entrance, an 18,000-square-foot lobby and a 24,000-square-foot radiology department.

After three years of construction and a $77 million investment in Northwest Detroit, DMC Sinai-Grace opens their new 18,000 square foot lobby and main entrance to the public. The newly-constructed areas include the lobby, new radiology and registration areas, two 20-bed Intensive Care Units, and the 59,000 square foot Emergency Department, which opened in 2014 as the first phase of the construction project. DETROIT--November 13, 2014 --The Joint Commission, the leading accreditor of health care organizations in the United States, has recognized DMC Sinai-Grace Hospital as a 2013 Top Performer on Key Quality Measures®. Recognized for its excellence in accountability measure performance shown to improve care for certain conditions, Sinai-Grace is one of only 1,224 hospitals in the United States to achieve the distinction this year. Sinai-Grace was recognized as part of The Joint Commission’s 2014 annual report “America’s Hospitals: Improving Quality and Safety,” for attaining and sustaining excellence in accountability measure performance for Heart Attack, Heart Failure, Pneumonia and Surgical Care.
