DMC Sinai-Grace Hospital Breaks Ground on $77 Million Renovation

DMC Sinai-Grace Hospital hosted groundbreaking ceremonies for the long-awaited $77 million complete renovation and expansion of its Emergency Department (ED), Intensive Care Units, and hospital lobby on Friday, March 23. DMC Sinai-Grace has become the first healthcare facility in Michigan to successfully resynchronize a patient’s heartbeat using a breakthrough pacemaking device. The new Unify Quadra™ cardiac resynchronization therapy defibrillator (CRT-D), just recently approved by the FDA, is the smallest pacemaking device and the only quadripolar pacing system available.

Ranked in 10 High-Performing Specialties

Sinai-Grace is ranked one of the Best Hospitals in Metro Detroit by U.S. News & World Report. The hospital is ranked 5th overall out of 67 metro Detroit hospitals, and was recognized for 10 High-Performing Specialties including:

The latest rankings showcase 720 hospitals out of about 5,000 hospitals nationwide. Each is ranked among the country’s top hospitals in at least one medical specialty and/or ranked among the best hospitals in its metro area.

Sinai-Grace is part of the Detroit Medical Center, which received high honors for nationally and regionally ranked hospitals, and earned 20 High-Performing Specialty rankings. 

Sinai-Grace Hospital is a full-service hospital with 404 licensed beds and more than 700 physicians, 700 nurses and 1,700 support staff. Services and capabilities include cardiology, emergency medicine, obstetrics/gynecology, urological services, psychiatry, radiation oncology, gerontology, physical medicine and orthopaedic surgery.

Sinai-Grace operates more than 25 ambulatory sites and surgery centers, including the Lahser and Berry Surgery Centers. With more than 214,000 patients annually, Sinai-Grace serves as a teaching facility to more than 200 medical students each year. Sinai-Grace Hospital is one of eight hospitals operated by the Detroit Medical Center (DMC).
